FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Who
are we? A: A small group of people who want to make a difference in people's lives. It sounds
cliche' but it's the truth. The Exponential Project was developed because two people had a "vision of doing something
good' in their lifetime. The vision became a reality and has grown into the non-profit foundation it is today. Q:
Who are we looking for? A: Two groups, really. First we're looking for people with
passion and motivation. Those individuals who have the desire to do something specific with their lives but just don't
quite know what to do next in order to achieve their lifes work goals. You know who you are. You're the one who
knows exactly what you want to do with your life - you can even taste it - but you just don't know how to get started
or what the next step would be. The second group is the flip side of this. People/groups/organizations/businesses
willing to help with the next step. For example we may find someone whose hearts desire is to be a baker, has been to
school, but doesn't know the first thing about running a bakery business. Our 'job' would be to connect them with
a bakery owner or manager who would allow this individual to shadow them, learn from them, and observe their functioning
business. Someone who would let this person hang out with them for a week or two. (And,
this is not a "free help" program where you put them to work and walk away). Regardless of what business
you're in, it costs you nothing but a few days of your time and the reward is the satisfaction of knowing you made a
difference in someone's life - a very worthwhile trade off, if you think about it.
Q: Does The Exponential Project help people find jobs? A: No. We're a non-profit
foundation not an employment agency. Again, we're merely catalysts to help those who already know
what they want to do with their life but have gotten 'stuck' in the process.
Q: How, then, is The Exponential Project involved? A: Our goal is to take these people with passion and motivation and pair them with the right business people in order to
get them going in their lifes work journey. Through an application and interview process, The Exponential Project
board members will select individuals (recipients) and people/organizations (supporters) to participate in our program.
And, please note, not everyone will be accepted.
Q: Is there a catch? A:
As a matter of fact, there is. Individuals chosen as recipients for our program will be required to sign a contract
stipulating that, at some point in their lives, they'll help someone else achieve their lifes work goal. For example,
perhaps our baker did end up with his/her own bakery. It's now their turn to be on the giving end and mentor someone
else with passion and motivation. Will we be following you around to make sure you hold up your end of the deal?
No. However, we may call, write, or stop in to see how you're doing and make sure things are going well for you.
Q: Does this cost anything? A: To participate in our
program, no. But we do expect those we help and the businesses that help them to make an honest commitment with their
time.
Q: How/where do I apply? A: Write to us or email
us for an application. When requesting this, please include your name and address.
Q:
How long does it take to hear back? A:
The Board meets once a month. During this time we set aside time to discuss and decide on which people/groups we'd like
to have participate in our program. Please allow up to two months between the time we receive your application until
we make our selection. We will try to contact everyone who applies, chosen or not. NOTE: Applications are now being accepted but will not be reviewed until January 2010.

"The mission of The Exponential Project, a non-profit foundation, is
to provide people with opportunities, whether financial or through other means, to fulfill their life work passion with a
contractual agreement stipulating that they, at some point in their lives, will help someone else fulfill their life work
passion (ie: a "pay it forward" concept)."
